3 Dimensional Artwork
The three-dimensional work shown here features a range from the very small 2" by 2" enamel pieces to the larger, whimisical shoe piece. Please click on http://brewermultimedia.com/Philadelphia Art & Artists/fabric-art/page/3/ for a comment on the show FOOTSTEPS in which the shoe piece "In Bloom" was exhibited in 2009.
The pieces show an interest in nature but also incorporate a bit of symbolism, such as in the talisman pieces. Please see the Installations page to see how the talisman pieces were incorporated into an installation called "Spiritual Journey."
"Vessel," the second image, was created using a 3D CAD modelling program. It was built through the 3D printing process.
A variety of materials and methods are used to create my artwork. The idea starts as a seed, developing and growing through the pages of my sketchbook. The idea for the piece dictates the materials and processes that will be used to create it. These materials can be as time-honored and traditional as sterling silver. Or, they can be as modern as somos resin laid down by a three-dimensional printer. Methods can be as traditional as vitreous glass enamelling on a cast metal piece. Or, they can be as modern as building an image in an x, y and z axis in a three-dimensional modelling program.
